Did you know that enlarged pores is one of the most common skin concerns? Read on to find out how we can help you with this concern.

want smaller pores we'll show you how why do my pores sometimes look enlarged how to get small pores

But firstly, what exactly are pores? And why do they matter?

Pores are tiny openings around our hair follicles and oil glands that help our body’s natural oils (sebum) move through the surface of our skin. Sebum is what helps keep our skin surface soft and naturally moisturised. Healthy pores are essential for maintaining healthy skin.

Why do my pores sometimes look enlarged?

As well as being genetically determined, pore size can be affected by a build-up of oils, toxins, dirt and makeup which can collect in the pore. So simply put, this clogs and stretches the pores, causing them to look larger.

So now that we know what pores are, how can we look after them?

As well as lifestyle changes (diet has a huge impact on our skin) following a good daily skincare routine can minimise the appearance of your pores and help keep them healthy and functioning well. And who wouldn't be happy with that result!

What type of skincare routine will help minimise my pores?

Cleanse

Cleanse every morning and evening. This will remove excess oil, dirt, toxins and makeup that clogs and stretches your pores. Be very careful in your choice of cleanser and make sure it’s of good quality. Some cleansers also strip your skin of its natural barrier.

Have you tried our Davidson's Plum Gentle Crème Cleanser? It melts into your skin to gently remove impurities without disturbing your skin's natural oils and sebum.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is a must for good pore health. Exfoliating one to three times a week removes dead skin cells and assists with unclogging pores.

Have you tried our Sunflower Cleansing Face Polish? It is particularly beneficial for the nose and chin areas and cleanses your skin while also providing gentle polish - all with the one product.

Clay Face Mask

A weekly clay face mask removes impurities, and this helps to make your pores look smaller.

Have you tried our Pink Clay Face Mask? it is the perfect addition to your skincare routine for promoting a radiant and balanced complexion.

Is it all worth it all???

Yes! It is certainly worth the effort to care for our skin daily. The night-time routine is my favourite. I use the Antioxidant Cleansing Oil in the evening and I can feel my skin cells reviving as I massage it in. If I’m too tired and skip my evening cleanse my face feels dry and dehydrated in the morning. It is always worth the effort.

Did you know that people with oily skin quite often skip moisturising as they feel their face is already too oily? Here’s a tip – without sufficient moisture your skin will think it needs more oil and sebum production goes into overdrive. Moisturising oily skin helps to reduce the oiliness appearance, and helps protect and nourish your skin. But that’s the topic for another blog another day.
